ECIR is pleased to welcome Bruce D. Martin as new Director of ECIR beginning September 1, 2009. He succeeds Roger Pohl, who served as executive director for 9 years before retiring in May 2009. Bruce was an adjunct instructor at the Interinstitutional Consortium for Indigenous Knowledge and served as the director and campus minister of the United Campus Ministry at Pennsylvania State University. Among the programs Bruce developed at Penn State, the most notable ones are World Without Walls: Students Exploring Cultures and Religions; Lambs Among Lions - Students for Justice & Peace; Koinonia House - which reflects a commitment to building and being a part of a community of faith in the world and the award winning program on Exploring Indigenous Ways of Knowing among the Ojibwe. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and holds a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Kay Penix began her work at ECIR in 2002. Born in Ann Arbor, her most recent previous work was in the office of the Dean of the U-M Business School. Her responsibilities at ECIR include: administering the office, bookkeeping and finances, communications, and property supervision. Kay is the mother of two adult daughters and one granddaughter.
Stonewall "Stoney" Griffin joined the ECIR staff in June, 2006. Born in Montrose, Arkansas, he is a retired Chrysler engineer. Stoney is responsible at ECIR for maintenance and repair in our building. He upholds the Center's mission to spread peace, good will and understanding. Stoney enjoys his grandchildren, travel, singing in his church choir and is a volunteer with the US Coast Guard.
