Community Volunteer Opportunities

ECIR residents volunteering for community service ECIR sponsors one or two Community Service Opportunities each month, in cooperation with the University of Michigan International Center.

Prepare a Meal for Homeless Persons

The second Thursday of each month go to the Delonis Center, the City of Ann Arbor's shelter for homeless people, and help prepare and serve a meal for up to 150 people. Work is done in two 5-person teams - one starting at at 2:30 p.m., the other at 4:30 p.m. Total time commitment is 4 hours. Learn about hunger and homelessness in this community, make new friends, and do something to make the world a better place.

  • Nature Conservancy (environment)
  • Neighborhood Senior Services (aging)
  • Blight Busters (neighborhood renewal in Detroit)
  • Growing Hope (community gardens)
  • Bridging Communities (Latino community in Detroit)
  • Food Gatherers (food for low-income families)
  • SOS (program for teenagers)
